Newcastle Snap Up Elanga for £55m – United Set for £5m Windfall

Newcastle United have signed Swedish winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in a big £55 million deal. The 23-year-old has agreed to stay at the club for the next five years.

This transfer also means Manchester United will receive £5 million, thanks to a special agreement made when Elanga first left them for Forest.

Elanga had a great season at Forest, scoring 6 goals and providing 11 assists. His performances helped the club qualify for the Europa Conference League. Now, he’s excited to join Newcastle and play under manager Eddie Howe, as well as link up with his national teammate Alexander Isak.

“I’m ready to wear the black and white shirt and give my all for this amazing club and its fans,” Elanga said. “Newcastle won a trophy last season and I believe they’re building something really special. I want to be a part of that.”

Elanga started his football journey at Manchester United, but it was at Nottingham Forest that he truly grew into one of the Premier League’s best wingers. He thanked Forest for helping him become a better player but said he’s excited for this new chapter.

“I had a great time at Forest for two years, but I’m really happy to be here now,” he added.

Newcastle coach Eddie Howe was also happy with the deal.

“Anthony was one of our main targets, so I’m very happy we signed him early in pre-season,” Howe said.

Elanga is Newcastle’s first big signing of the summer as they get ready for another season of European football and Premier League action.
