Super Falcons Seal 10th WAFCON Title with Thrilling 3-2 Comeback Over Morocco

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have done it again! They won their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title after a thrilling 3-2 comeback win against Morocco on Saturday night at the Stade Olympique in Rabat.

This win makes Nigeria the most successful women’s football team in Africa — no team has won the trophy more times!

How It Happened:

Morocco started strong. In the 12th minute, their captain Ghizlane Chebbak scored to make it 1-0. Then, in the 24th minute, Fatima Tagnaout set up Ibtissam Jraidi Mssoudy to score again. That made it 2-0 for the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco.

But the Super Falcons didn’t give up.

In the 64th minute, Nigeria got a penalty after the ball hit a Moroccan player’s hand in the box. Esther Okoronkwo stepped up and scored to make it 2-1.

Just a few minutes later, in the 71st minute, Chinaza Ijamilusi scored the equalizer — now it was 2-2!

The winning goal came in the 88th minute, thanks to Jennifer Echegini, who finished beautifully to give Nigeria the lead for the first time in the match. What a moment!

Morocco tried hard to score in the last minutes, but Nigeria stayed strong. After six extra minutes, the referee blew the final whistle — and the Super Falcons were champions again!
