Newcastle Ramp Up Sesko Pursuit as Brentford Delay Wissa Exit

Newcastle United are working fast to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko as questions grow over the future of their star forward Alexander Isak.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Newcastle have started talks with Sesko’s team, but nothing has been agreed yet. The 22-year-old Slovenian striker could cost around €80 million (about £69.5 million).

At the same time, Newcastle are also eyeing Yoane Wissa from Brentford as another option to strengthen their attack. But Brentford are not ready to let Wissa go unless they find a replacement.

The i reports that Brentford are looking at Daizen Maeda from Celtic as Wissa’s possible replacement, but talks are still ongoing.

This transfer activity is happening because Isak might leave Newcastle soon. The Swedish striker has been linked with a big move to Liverpool, and he’s said to be open to leaving this summer. Newcastle value him at around £150 million.

Wissa, who scored 19 goals last season, is said to be worth £30 million, while Sesko got 21 goals in all competitions.

Brentford have already sold Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United, so they don’t want to lose another top player without a backup plan.

For now, Newcastle’s next signings depend on whether or not Isak leaves.
