“Super Falcons Hailed by FG After Historic WAFCON Win”

The Federal Government has praised the Super Falcons after their exciting win at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
In a statement shared on Monday by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, the government said the team made the whole country proud by beating Morocco 3-2 in the final match, even after being two goals behind.
“We are happy to welcome our brave Super Falcons back home from Morocco. They have made Nigeria proud by winning this big tournament,” the Minister said.
He also said the team’s win is not just about football, but also shows the true Nigerian spirit of courage, teamwork, and excellence.
“With their skill, teamwork, and never-give-up attitude, the Super Falcons have written Nigeria’s name in gold across Africa,” he added.
President Bola Tinubu also sent a message to the players, coaches, and everyone who helped the team. He said their victory will encourage young Nigerians to follow their dreams.
The government said it will continue to support sports and invest in young talents across the country.
To celebrate their return, the Super Falcons were to be welcomed with a parade in Abuja—from the City Gate to Eagle Square, then to the Presidential Villa.
“The Super Falcons have made the country proud and made millions of Nigerians happy. Welcome back, champions of Africa!” the statement ended.
