PL: Slot Reveals Star Lined Up to Replace Salah During AFCON

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has said that Jeremie Frimpong could step in for Mohamed Salah when the Egyptian star leaves for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Salah will join Egypt for the tournament from December 2025 to January 2026, meaning he could miss up to six Premier League matches.
Speaking to the press, Slot explained that Liverpool signed Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen partly because he can play in two positions — right-back and right-wing — making him a perfect cover for Salah.
“We knew Mo would miss some games during AFCON,” Slot said. “It’s about six league matches, which is a lot, especially after the amazing season he had.”
Last season, Salah helped Liverpool win the Premier League title with 28 goals and 18 assists in 37 matches.
