Derby Delight: Atlético Crush Real 5-2, Álvarez Outshines Mbappé

Atlético Madrid gave their city rivals Real Madrid a heavy beating with a 5-2 win in the first Madrid derby of the season. Julián Álvarez was the star of the night, scoring twice and proving too hot for Kylian Mbappé to handle.

Real Madrid managed goals from Mbappé and young talent Arda Güler, but their defence made big mistakes that cost them the game. Atlético punished every error in front of a noisy home crowd at the Metropolitano.

Early goals and Real’s comeback

Atlético struck first when Robin Le Normand headed in. But Real fought back quickly — Mbappé scored after a clever pass from Güler, and then Güler himself fired past Jan Oblak to put Madrid 2-1 ahead.

Just before half-time, Atlético hit back. Alexander Sørloth outjumped Madrid defenders to head in and make it 2-2.

Álvarez takes over

After the break, the game belonged to Álvarez. He scored a penalty after Güler fouled Nico González in the box, and later curled in a beautiful free-kick to make it 4-2.

Griezmann seals it

Antoine Griezmann finished the job in stoppage time with a calm strike into the bottom corner, making it 5-2 and sending Atlético fans wild.

It was a night to forget for Real Madrid’s defenders, while Diego Simeone’s men celebrated a derby win to remember.
