Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, has told his fellow Nigerian players to take playing for the national team more seriously.

While talking on The Culture League podcast, the Bayer Leverkusen star said some players don’t seem to care enough when they wear the Super Eagles jersey.

“Some players just go and play like it doesn’t matter if we win or lose,” Boniface said.

He said it makes him sad because millions of Nigerians are dreaming of that chance.

“Sometimes I still can’t believe I play for Nigeria. It’s a big deal to wear the green and white,” he added.

Boniface, who is doing well in his club, admitted that playing for Nigeria comes with a lot of pressure. He said it’s not easy because everyone expects the best, and sometimes things don’t go the way you want.

> “People don’t know how it feels to wear that jersey. I’m proud and I want to give my all, but sometimes it just doesn’t work,” he explained.

As he gets ready for the 2025/26 season and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Boniface hopes to keep improving and help Nigeria do well.
