Chelsea Advance to Club World Cup Semis as Palmer Shines

Chelsea are through to the semi-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after a tough 2-1 win against Brazilian team Palmeiras.
Cole Palmer gave Chelsea the lead in the 16th minute. He dribbled past two defenders and scored a cool goal to make it 1-0.
In the second half, Palmeiras got back into the game. Their 18-year-old star, Estevao Willian, scored a great goal from a tight angle in the 53rd minute. Fun fact: Estevao is already set to join Chelsea soon in a £52 million deal!
Chelsea didn’t wait long to respond. Malo Gusto sent in a cross that hit Palmeiras defender Giay Agustin and ended up in the net — an own goal that made it 2-1 for the Blues.
New Chelsea signing Joao Pedro, who joined from Brighton for £55 million, made his debut in the match. Sadly, Liam Delap got a yellow card, which means he can’t play in the next game.
There was a scare before the match too — team captain Reece James got injured during warm-up and couldn’t play.
Next up, Chelsea will face another Brazilian side, Fluminense, in the semi-final on Tuesday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
