Popular Nigerian content creator, Egungun of Lagos, whose real name is Kuye Oghenevwede Adegoke, has caused a big stir online after sharing a surprising story about his wife on her birthday.
In a post he made on July 2, Egungun celebrated his wife’s birthday by telling a story from 10 years ago — back when they were both students at Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech).
According to him, one of his rich friends once asked him to find a girl from Yabatech. Egungun said he almost introduced his now-wife to that friend just to get ₦3,000.
Here’s what he wrote:
10 years ago, I wanted to link you up with my friend who has more money than I do because he asked me to find a girl for him from Yabatech.
Honestly, I was foolish—I didn’t realise that I would end up marrying you. This guy literally wanted to give me ₦3,000 to bring you to his house in Ajah.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MY LOVE! Help me wish her a happy birthday; she really deserves it.
While some fans laughed and saw it as a funny throwback, many people didn’t like the story at all.
Some social media users said the post was embarrassing and disrespectful to his wife, especially since she is now the mother of his children.
One person commented:

Another said:
Saying that about the mother of your kids makes me question the kind of husband he is.
However, a few fans defended him, saying it was just his usual comedy style and not meant to be taken too seriously.
