Nollywood actress Evan Okoro, who many people know as Doctor Maria from the movie Sexy Investment, has shared a sad and scary story about her husband.
In a video she posted online, Evan was crying as she said her husband threatened to k*ll her if she ever left him. She said she has been scared for her life since then, and she has reported the matter to the police.
Evan said the marriage is not working and called it a big mistake. “The shoe I took home is not my size,” she said, meaning the marriage is too hard for her. She also said that her bride price was never paid, and her family has told her husband’s people to come and do it the right way.
The actress also shared that her husband became controlling and angry, especially about her money. She said when she traveled to Lagos for a business trip and made a small amount of money from an advert, he got upset because she refused to give him the money. He didn’t even check on her when she got back.
Evan said her husband stopped showing her love, didn’t help her in the marriage, and even after talking to his family, nothing changed. She also said that he might be jealous of her success, especially after she started building her own house. People online are even saying he may have planned to kidnap her.
“I started building that house before I met him. I’m not asking anyone for money, I just want to finish my house and live in peace,” she said in her video. She also said she’s been having scary dreams and hearing strange whispers, which made her decide to speak out.
“If anything happens to me, please know that I cried out,” she said. “I tried to save my marriage, but now I just want to be safe.”
Many people on social media have reacted to Evan’s story. Some people praised her for speaking out and being brave. One Instagram user wrote, “I like that she’s not keeping quiet. I hope she gets help.”
But some others blamed her, saying she chose the wrong man. One person wrote, “She used money to get a husband. What did she expect?”
