“Ex-Roma CEO Admits: Working with Mourinho Was No Easy Task”

Guido Fienga, the former CEO of Roma, has described José Mourinho as very smart but also difficult to manage.

Fienga was in charge when Roma hired Mourinho in 2021. He said working with the famous coach was not easy.

“Three words to describe him? Super smart, very good at his job… but the last one, I won’t say,” Fienga told Thriving Minds with Alberto Zandi as reported by Gazzetta.

He also remembered the early drama under Mourinho, like when Roma got four red cards in one of their first games.

Before leaving the club, Fienga shared a funny moment with Mourinho. He said:

“Mourinho told me, ‘Guido, there are only two alpha males in this club and now one is leaving.’ I answered, ‘Good for you.’”

Fienga left Roma in October 2021, just a few months after Mourinho joined. Later, he worked at Saudi club Al-Nassr but left in December 2024.
