Super Falcons star, Asisat Oshoala, has cleared the air on rumours that she is leaving international football.
After Nigeria’s big 3-2 win over Morocco in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final, Oshoala told reporters in Morocco that she’s not retiring anytime soon.
She said:
> “I don’t know where that came from, but agenda must agend. I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on.”
Even though she didn’t start every match in the tournament, the 30-year-old striker was part of Nigeria’s final 23-player squad and helped the team with her experience and support.
Oshoala has been playing for Nigeria since 2013. She became famous after shining in the 2014 U-20 Women’s World Cup and the same year’s African Women’s Championship.
She is also the first African woman to score in three straight FIFA Women’s World Cups!
Now, with this WAFCON win, she has four WAFCON titles — from 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024.
So to all the fans wondering if she’s done:
Oshoala is still in the game, still strong, and still repping Naija! 🇳🇬⚽
