Nigerian lawyer named Festus Ogun has spoken out about how people are treating Wunmi, the wife of late singer Mohbad. He believes she is being wrongly blamed after her husband’s sad and sudden death.
According to news from Gistmilinaija, the lawyer said on social media that Wunmi is being targeted on purpose, and that the things people are saying about her are not fair.
Festus Ogun said he was the first lawyer to write to the Chief Coroner of Lagos to ask for a proper investigation into how Mohbad died. He also attended some of the court sittings. After just four sittings, he said he already had a good idea of what really happened to Mohbad.
Mohbad was a young music star in Nigeria. He died in September 2023, when he was just 27 years old. His death shocked many Nigerians and led to protests and calls for justice.
The lawyer is upset that people keep pointing fingers at Wunmi. He said it’s common in some African cultures for a late husband’s family to blame the wife. Sometimes, the widow is even forced to do strange or painful things to prove she didn’t kill her husband.
Festus said this is a very unfair and old-fashioned way of thinking, and Wunmi is being treated badly because of it.
