Nigeria Outclass South Africa 2-1 to Reach WAFCON 2024 Finale

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are through to the final of the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a tough 2-1 win over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

The first goal came just before halftime, as Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade scored from the penalty spot in the 45th minute.

South Africa came back strong and got a goal five minutes later, in the 50th minute, thanks to Linda Motlhalo.

The match was tied 1-1 until extra time, when Michelle Alozie fired in a powerful shot from outside the box to win the game for Nigeria.

With this win, Nigeria—who have won WAFCON nine times before—remain unbeaten in the tournament. This was also the first goal they’ve conceded since the competition began.
