Nollywood Mourns: Veteran Actor Chief Kanran Dies at 70

Sad news has hit the Nollywood movie world as veteran actor Olusegun Akinfemi, better known as Chief Kanran, has passed away. He died at the age of 70.

The news was shared on Friday by movie producer Seun Oloketuyi, who posted about it on Instagram. In his post, he wrote:
“Popular actor Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, died Friday morning. Details soon.”

Chief Kanran was a well-known face in the Yoruba movie industry. He was loved for his classy looks, funny nature, and the powerful way he acted in movies and on stage.

He started his acting career many years ago in stage plays before he began appearing in TV shows and films. He became popular after acting in a drama series on NTA (Nigerian Television Authority).

Over the years, Chief Kanran acted in many famous Yoruba movies. He was known for playing the roles of kings, chiefs, and wise elders. Some of the movies he starred in include Ewe Orun, Aiye, Efunsetan Aniwura, Agbarin, and Bata Wahala.

In a 2020 interview, Chief Kanran shared that he stepped away from acting because of problems in the movie industry, like disagreements and politics.

As of now, the cause of his death has not been revealed, and his family has not yet shared details about his burial.
