Valverde & Garcia Shine as Alonso Praises Duo in Real Madrid’s Club World Cup Win Over Juventus

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is very happy with Federico Valverde and young striker Gonzalo Garcia after their 1-0 win against Juventus in the Club World Cup round of 16.

The match was played in Miami, and Garcia scored the only goal in the second half. With this win, Real Madrid will now face Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals on July 5 at MetLife Stadium in New York.

After the game, Alonso spoke to the press and said he was proud of the team.

“This win feels really good,” he told Diario AS. “Every game in this tournament is important because if you lose, you’re out. Now we’re in the quarter-finals, and the team is getting better.”

Gonzalo Garcia, who is just 21 years old, scored his third goal in four games. Alonso praised him for playing well but didn’t say if star player Kylian Mbappe would return to the starting lineup now that he’s feeling better.

“I’m happy for Garcia and for the team,” Alonso said. “He’s doing great whenever he gets a chance to play.”

“As for Mbappe, we’ll see how he feels. We still have three days to decide.”

Alonso also praised Valverde, who was named Player of the Match.

“He makes my job easier,” Alonso said. “He’s a fantastic player. He gives his best and lifts the whole team.”

Now, Real Madrid will prepare for a tough match against Borussia Dortmund as they aim to reach the semi-finals.
