A pregnant woman in labor has tragically passed away after being denied treatment at a hospital due to her inability to pay a ₦500,000 deposit.
The heartbreaking incident was shared in a viral post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the video, the expectant mother is seen inside a car with her husband while she was still alive, en route to the hospital.
Her distressed husband could be heard in the video desperately trying to keep her conscious.
He repeatedly called her name and urged her to stay strong for their children.
“My goodness, Kemi, look at me. Stay strong; look at me. Think about your kids, please. You need to be very strong for me,” he pleaded.
Struggling to respond, the woman appeared weak.
The caption of the video revealed that the couple had initially gone to a hospital, but the woman was refused treatment because they couldn’t afford the ₦500,000 deposit.
They were referred to another hospital, but despite their efforts, she did not survive.
As the video spread online, many concerned individuals flooded the comment section, expressing their outrage and sympathy.

@ihe69: “This is very painful. When I lost my wife in 2020, money was available, but it was time to go, in accordance with the will of God. People die even in the world’s best hospital. If it weren’t the will of God, she would’ve survived one way or the other. May her soul rest in peace.”
@enejih7: “What is going on in this country??? What ?? A pregnant woman?? Mhen !!! This is bad.”
