Royal Exit: Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Olakulehin, Dies at 90

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away, marking the end of his brief reign as the 43rd monarch of the ancient city.

Sources confirmed that Oba Olakulehin, who ascended the throne in July 2024, joined his ancestors in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, just two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.

The late monarch was presented with the staff of office by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on July 12, 2024, officially making him the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Oba Olakulehin, born on July 5, 1935, had a long history of service and leadership within Ibadan traditional structures before emerging as Olubadan.
