Tinubu Rewards D’Tigress with $100,000 Each for AfroBasket Triumph

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given a big reward to Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, after they won the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship.

At a special event held on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the President gave each player $100,000 (about ₦150 million) as a gift for making the country proud. He also gave $50,000 (about ₦75 million) to each coach and team official for their support and hard work.

President Tinubu praised D’Tigress for being strong, focused, and great examples for young Nigerians. He said they made the whole country proud and brought joy and unity to the nation.

D’Tigress won the championship after beating their rivals, Mali, in a tough final match. This victory makes it their fourth AfroBasket title in a row, showing that Nigeria is still number one in women’s basketball in Africa.

This reward from the President is not just a big thank you, but also a way to encourage more young people to chase their dreams in sports.
