Arsenal may not have it easy in their bid to sign Nigerian star Ademola Lookman, as Italian club Napoli have now joined the race to get the Atalanta winger.
Napoli are looking for new attackers as they prepare to sell their top striker, Victor Osimhen. Reports say Galatasaray have agreed to pay Napoli’s asking price of €75 million for Osimhen, which would give Napoli the money to spend on new players.
According to Sky Sport, one of Napoli’s top targets is Lookman. They see him as the perfect fit, especially with winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also expected to leave soon.
Lookman, 27, had a great season with Atalanta in 2023/24. He scored a stunning hat-trick in the Europa League final and now has a price tag of around €50 million. His contract with Atalanta runs until 2027.
Arsenal have been watching Lookman for a while, but they now have strong competition. West Ham and Spanish club Atletico Madrid are also interested. In fact, Atletico are already talking to Lookman’s agents.
Napoli are expected to make a formal move once Osimhen’s transfer is done.
