Carlo Ancelotti Hit with One-Year Jail Sentence for Tax Fraud

Carlo Ancelotti, the famous football coach and former Real Madrid manager, has been sentenced to one year in prison in Spain for tax fraud.

He was accused of not paying taxes on money he earned from image rights back in 2014. This led to over £833,000 (about €1 million) in unpaid taxes.

The court also fined him £86,000.

Ancelotti said he didn’t mean to break the law and blamed the way Real Madrid paid him at the time. His lawyers are expected to argue that he followed the rules and didn’t do anything wrong on purpose.

Spain has been getting tough on tax fraud, especially with big names in football. In the past, stars like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have also faced similar problems.
