Davido Reveals His Alternate Life — If He Never Became a Star

Afrobeats superstar, Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has talked about what his life might be like if he wasn’t rich and famous.

In a chat with Okay Africa, Davido said that even if he didn’t become a global music star, he would still be doing music because he truly loves it. Music, for him, is more than just fame or money — it’s his passion.

The singer, who is a father of four, also shared something very special to him: the real love he gets from fans. He said this love means more to him than anything money can buy. Some fans even travel long distances just to see him perform live on stage!

Davido explained that his shows attract both new fans and old ones because he has so many hit songs that people love and still enjoy.

Even though he’s very popular, Davido said he doesn’t really hide things from people.
“My life is pretty out there,” he said, meaning that most things about him are already public.

Talking about how big Afrobeats has become around the world, Davido said it comes with a lot of responsibility. He shared how he moved to the United States to study music and started introducing his friends there to Nigerian music and culture.

In Atlanta, he worked hard to get DJs and clubs to play his songs. Little by little, his songs became more popular and even made it to local radio charts. But he made it clear that the journey was not easy.

He looked back at 2011, when he dropped his big hit “Dami Duro”, and said if he could talk to his younger self, he would say:
“The road won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.”

Back then, he never thought he would become as big as he is today.

Davido also talked about the music he listened to while growing up. He used to enjoy hip-hop, but as a teenager, he fell in love with Nigerian music. He said artists like D’banj, Don Jazzy, 2Baba, and P-Square really inspired him and made him want to chase his dreams in music.
