Liverpool Fall to Crystal Palace in Thrilling Community Shield Shootout

Crystal Palace are the new Community Shield champions after beating Liverpool in a tense penalty shootout at Wembley.
Liverpool started fast, with new striker Hugo Ekitike scoring just four minutes into the match.
Palace hit back 13 minutes later when Jean-Philippe Mateta scored from the penalty spot.
The Reds took the lead again in the 21st minute when Jeremie Frimpong’s cross flew straight into the net. This happened just as Liverpool fans were paying tribute to the late Diogo Jota, who wore the number 20 shirt.
It looked like Liverpool would win, but with only minutes left, Ismaila Sarr fired in a brilliant goal to make it 2-2 and send the match to penalties.
In the shootout, Liverpool missed three spot kicks, including one from Mohamed Salah. Palace scored three and missed only two, enough to win the first trophy of the new season.
The victory gives Palace a big boost before their Premier League opener against Chelsea on August 17.
