Chelsea Boss Eyes Rock-Solid Defensive Reinforcement

Chelsea’s coach, Enzo Maresca, says getting a new defender is now very important after Levi Colwill got a serious injury.
Colwill hurt his knee badly (ACL injury) and will not play for a long time. He now joins Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana, who are also injured. This means Chelsea has very few defenders left.
Before, the club was not planning to buy another defender. But after Chelsea’s 2-0 pre-season win against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, Maresca said things have changed.
“It’s a priority for me,” Maresca told Channel 5. “Levi is a great player and we did well last season because of him. We will miss him, and we are looking for other options.”
Colwill played an important role for Chelsea last season. His injury makes Chelsea’s defence even weaker.
Chelsea has only three weeks before the transfer window closes to sign a new defender.
They will play their last pre-season game against AC Milan on Sunday before starting the Premier League at home to Crystal Palace on August 17.
