Cristiano Ronaldo has asked his longtime girlfriend, Georgina Rodríguez, to marry him – ending years of rumours about when the wedding would happen.
Georgina, 31, shared the happy news on Instagram with a photo of her wearing a shiny diamond ring while holding Ronaldo’s hand. She wrote in the caption: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
The couple has been together for nine years and people have always asked when they would get married. Back in April, Georgina got fans talking when she posted a picture wearing a different ring. And in December last year, Ronaldo even called her his “wife” at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, making people think they were already married.
Ronaldo, 40, once explained that he was waiting for the “perfect moment” to propose, saying: “It could be in a year, six months, or in a month. I’m 1,000% sure it will happen.”
Now, that special moment has arrived. The couple has two children together, and Georgina also helps raise Ronaldo’s three other children.
